Aspen Protection

In the food and drink processing industry, maintaining impeccable hygiene standards is not just a regulatory requirement; it’s a fundamental aspect of ensuring consumer safety and product quality. An often-overlooked component of the design of a modern factory is hygienic protection which helps keep employees and critical machinery safe.

Aspen Protection Products:

  • Bump Railing:Individual hoops or continuous runs. These can be specified as hollow or concrete filled.
  • Bollards: Flat/mitred topped, hollow or concrete filled.
  • Goal Posts: High level protection for door openings
  • Guarding/Handrails: Tubular or box section guarding for segregating and protecting employees from danger
  • Wall Cladding: Stainless steel cladding panels to help protect walls from impacts whilst providing a hygienic finish

Why Hygienic Stainless Steel?

Stainless steel is used extensively in hygienic environments for its corrosion resistance, strength, and ease of cleaning. Its non-porous surface prevents the accumulation of bacteria and other pathogens, thereby reducing the risk of contamination. This is especially important in a sector where even the slightest lapse in hygiene can lead to severe consequences, including product recalls, financial losses, and damage to brand reputation.

EHEDG:

Adherence to stringent standards such as those set by the European Hygienic Equipment Design Group (EHEDG) is essential for ensuring that food processing environments meet the highest hygiene requirements. EHEDG provides guidelines that promote the safe and hygienic design of equipment and facilities. These standards are specifically designed to prevent contamination and ensure that equipment is easy to clean and maintain. To that end, the strategic implementation of stainless steel protection (bump rails, bollards, high-level impact goalposts) guards against the damage and therefore deterioration of factory fixtures and equipment minimises crevices which could harbour dangerous bacteria.

When combined with Aspen’s drainage & kerbing, we can provide a full range of fit hygienic fit-out options, all designed and manufactured in-house to the same high standards with durability at its core.

Benefits of Aspen Protection:

  • Enhanced Hygiene: All joints across our products can be specified as fully welded and polished creating a uniform, crevice free surface which can be easily cleaned. We also incorporate radiused corners and transitions to further aid cleanability. Aspen supply grade 304 stainless steel protection as standard but clients can choose to opt for 316 grade stainless steel which is highly corrosion resistant and therefore ideal for environments exposed to harsh chemicals during cleaning.
  • Durability: We use a minimum wall thickness of 3mm stainless steel to provide a high degree of impact resistance and our clients can choose to increase the impact load resistance by opting for concrete filled protection across our entire range.
  • Flexible: Our protection is designed and manufactured to our clients exact requirements so any factory and equipment layout can be accommodated. By combining Aspen protection products with Aspen drains and kerbing, we can coordinate all elements of the design to remove potential clashes.
